Special Valuation Branch (SVB)

 

The “Special Valuation Branch” (SVB) is Set-up by Indian Customs to Investigate the transactions in import of goods from related party supplier (examine the impact of relationship on invoicing / valuation) in import.

Mumbai / Chennai / Kolkata / Bangalore & Delhi are the zonal regulatory offices functioning SVB investigation / Finalization in India and any decision taken by any of these office is followed by all the five customs zone offices . 

Procedure

  1. Port Registration is taken at the time of first import and the clearance is permitted against “Continuity Bond” from import station on approval of commissioner of custom. 
  2. The same file is then forwarded to zonal office for DOV registration.
  3.  The SVB office will call for list of documents and appropriate explanation with evidence for valuation of the import goods as required.
  4. On completion of Investigation SVB department of custom will issue Investigation                Report (IR) which is approved by Zonal Commissioner of customs.
